Homes Tasmania is improving the housing market by increasing housing access and affordability for all Tasmanians.
Key worker accommodation will increase the supply of affordable rentals to people who provide essential services to a city or town’s functioning.
A range of accommodation options are needed to support local communities so they can attract and support their workforce from temporary workers needed to deliver infrastructure projects to the workers critical to staffing hospitals and schools.
Homes Tasmania is committed to working with private industry and the Australian and local governments to implement key worker accommodation models through the Tasmanian Housing Strategy Action Plan 2023-27.
Key worker accommodation will be delivered using former short stay accommodation where available and appropriate. This will allow dwellings previously rented for key workers to be released back into the housing market for long-term accommodation.
