Builders and developers are encouraged to participate in the upcoming Request for Tender (RFT) to bring forward new residential apartment developments with a minimum of 25 units, in well-located areas where Tasmanians want to live.
The RFT for the Apartment Development Purchase Program is now registered on the Tasmanian Government’s tender website as a future opportunity – www.tenders.tas.gov.au
The pilot program is one of the ways Homes Tasmania is looking to increase the supply of medium-density, affordable housing options for Tasmanians.
Under the pilot program, Homes Tasmania will guarantee the purchase of 10 per cent of units off the plan to be managed as affordable rental housing, up to a total of 15 units across at least three new apartments developments, with a preference for at least one approved project in each region.
Proposals must demonstrate that they are located near existing services, transport and amenities and must be ready for occupation by or before 30 June 2027.
