The October Dashboard demonstrates Homes Tasmania’s ongoing action to improve the housing system with a total of 3 978 homes completed to date and a further 707 homes in the pipeline to meet the target of 10 000 social and affordable homes by 2032.
There were 85 social housing properties completed around the state during October – nearly three new homes every day.
Included in this significant milestone, was the completion of a 11-unit development in Westbury. These new two-bedroom units are now tenanted with applicants from the Housing Register.
The units were delivered in partnership with community housing provider Community Housing Limited (CHL) with $3.4 million in loan funding and land provided by Homes Tasmania.
CHL is a national not-for-profit company delivering social and affordable housing for people on low to moderate incomes who are unable to secure long term affordable housing in the private rental market.
CHL manages close to 1 700 properties across the north of the state, which includes Homes Tasmania properties.
CHL completed an additional four units in Rocherlea, three units in Summerhill and two units in Ravenswood during the month of October.
