Requests for Tender that will establish panels of approved builders to deliver Homes Tasmania’s pipeline of works over the next three years is now open.

Building and construction firms are encouraged to make a submission to be part of one of two panels: one for detached and semi-detached unit construction, and the second panel for medium density apartment construction.

Establishing the panels of builders is a critical strategy to help Homes Tasmania get more Tasmanians into homes and deliver its housing target of 10 000 homes by 2032.

Non-prequalified builders can quote for projects valued at $500 000 or less, and can work towards gaining pre-qualification during the three-year panel period, making them eligible for a greater range of projects.

For projects valued at greater than $500 000, builders are required to meet relevant pre-qualification requirements for each panel. Any builder accepted onto a panel can work towards a higher pre-qualification threshold during the three-year panel period.

The panels will guarantee the opportunity for successful panel members to quote simply and quickly for housing construction projects undertaken by Homes Tasmania.

As at 31 August 2024, there were 809 units of accommodation in Homes Tasmania’s pipeline of works with many more projects being planned.

Builders will remain on the panel for a period of three years, at which point Homes Tasmania will reopen the panel for new submissions.
